Five 4 Friday...first time in America!

I am back in America! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I arrived home Tuesday afternoon.

I have THE worst jet lag ever. Tonight I'm going to take some Dramamine and NyQuil praying and hoping that they do the trick.

I haven't done a Five for Friday in a while. My last few weeks in Korea were pretty hectic, and I was doing good just to keep my head above water.

Go on over to Doodle Bugs and check out what everyone has been up to!

Let's get it started in here!

I had a little going away party, and I was so grateful that all my friends showed up. One friend even came from out of town to say good-bye. I already miss them. There's something about living in a foreign country and having friends there. Everyone else is going through the same thing and knows how you feel. I miss that.

Afterwards, several of us went to a norebang (one of my absolute favorite Korean activities). We had a blast.

I arrived home Tuesday afternoon, and my jet lag has been absolutely AWFUL. Simply awful.

I would really like to do this.

Or this.

I am a walking zombie at some points during the day and then have trouble going to sleep at night. And then I wake up early. It's awful. I've even tried Melatonin. Last night I took two Dramamine and NyQuil. That helped me sleep 6 good hours.
All of you have started back to school. I have loved seeing pictures of your classrooms and hearing all your back to school stories.

However, I can't join in since I don't have a job yet. Hopefully soon.

I have my very first interview this morning. Woo-hoo! I know God has a plan, but I sure wish he would let me in on it!
A couple of observations since I came back...

I still put my hand on my arm when giving someone money (it's a Korean custom).

I get cold way too often now (not used to all this AC).

Driving a car is a little weird (I have a little rental car).

I don't know any of the songs on the radio.

And last but not least....I don't feel like I quite belong yet. It is a very weird feeling. It's all part of reverse culture shock I've heard.
I got to come home to these two cuties. At first, they were looking at me like, "Is that really you, Mommy?" I sure did miss them.

This is Missy.

And this is Kobe, my sweet 3-legged baby.

I did have another dog, but sadly she had to be put to sleep while I was gone.

Hope you've had a great week!

Goodbye Korea

Today was my last day of school. I can't believe it. I've been in Korea for one year. I fly home tomorrow. Tomorrow I will get to hug my friends and family and love on my dogs. Tomorrow I get to have REAL Tex-Mex. Tomorrow I step back onto American soil.

There have been really challenging days at my school this year. And there have been great days.

Today was a great day.

My co-teacher and some of my students surprised with with a going away party. It was so sweet. And I got a book of homemade letters and cards from my students.

And yes, I can eat that cake with chopsticks!

She always tells me, "Angela, I love you."

After the party, my co-teacher asked me to come down to the teacher's office where they were having a little ceremony for me. I had to say a speech...yes, the tears came. And they presented me with a nice certificate and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I couldn't believe it.

The next time I post on my blog I will be in America!!!!!!

Beautiful Bali

I just got back from Bali yesterday. Jet-lagged, tired, but happy. I will post more pictures later, but here are a couple from instagram to entice you.

Btw...are you following me on instagram? Just look for "southernfriedteachin" or click HERE.

It was absolutely beautiful. Breathtaking at times.

This was my fancy dancy hotel for my last 3 days in Bali.

I see a lot of your pictures, posts, and comments about starting back to school...getting your classroom ready and going back to teacher inservice. I will admit that I'm a little jealous. But then I think I just got back from Bali. So I think I'm good.

Goodbye Summer Camp.....Hello Bali

You won't be seeing me for 2 weeks.

But I have a REALLY good excuse.

I'll be in BALI!!!

Jealous?

I'll be doing a tour for 8 days and then I'll be staying at a swanky honeymoon-like resort for 3 days.

CANNOT wait. Seriously.

I just finished my summer camp today and wanted to share a couple of pictures with you.

I said goodbye to this sweet thing last night. Her mom, my friend, doesn't come home until next weekend, so I took her to a friend's place until then.  My friend is a stay-at-home mom here in Korea with a 3-year old little boy, so Philopena will be quite loved and happy. However, I already miss her tons. Way too quiet and lonely. I can't wait to see my own babies in a few weeks!

In one of my summer camp classes, I have a set of twin boys. One speaks and one doesn't. They are both blind and have intellectual disabilities. Dongwoo, the one on the left with the cane, is the cutest thing. He LOVES music and singing and waves his arms around when the music is playing. When I say "Annyeong Dongwoo", he jumps up and down and waves his arms. Love him. They are the sweetest boys, and I'm so glad I got to be their teacher during summer camp. They are not normally in my classes

This is my afternoon summer camp class, which consists of middle school and high school students (and two of the high school students are 25 and 27 and are brothers - can you pick them out?).

We had a great day today. I've taught them to sing several songs including A Whole New World, I Want It That Way, Hey Soul Sister, and Marry You.

My co-teacher and I love to hear them sing A Whole New World because two of the boys just belt it out like nobody's business. It's hilarious and makes us laugh every single time.

Hope you have fun getting ready for this school year! I'll be soaking up the sun while relaxing on the beach.

Busy Busy Beaver

Well. You might be wondering where I've been.

I've been trying to fit in all my last adventures, shopping trips, hanging out with friends, etc in my last weeks in Korea. And also packing up boxes to ship home. And getting things ready in my apartment to give away. And teaching summer camp during the day. And making the last of the phonics readers for my co-teacher. Yeah, busy busy beaver is a great description of me lately.

This weekend I had my final big Korean adventure. I went to the DMZ where North Korea meets South Korea. I will be posting pictures later.

I did want to let you know that I will be having a BIG sale in my TpT store on August 4th and 5th. So if you're anything like me, you want to put all your wish list goodies into your cart. And at 28% off you can't beat it!

Be sure to enter in the Promo Code to get your full 28% off!

I have just added a couple of new items to my store and wanted to share them with you.

Vocabulary Choice Boards - One of my followers had requested these, and I enjoyed making them. They can be used with any subject!

I also finished ALL of my Science Scoots and put them into 4 different bundles. I tried putting them into one big bundle, but it was too big. I am in the process right now of uploading them to my TpT store.

Hope you're filling up your cart like I am!
