Holiday Linky Party!

So excited to announce my holiday linky party....My Favorite Things!

This time of year is crazy...especially if you're a teacher. You're stressed out and ready for a break. And you are still having to teach squirrely children who want to do anything but learn.

So it's time for some fun!

Link on up and share your favorite holiday things!

my favorite things

Here's what to do:
1. Just save the image above, answer the 12 questions below (you can save and post that image too if you want) and post!
2. Include the button above and a link to this  blog on your post.
3. Link her post up here between December 12th-19th
4. Be a good blog reader, and leave some love for the two posts before yours!

Here are my favorite things!

1. Favorite holiday song - Christmas Canon by Trans-Siberian Orchestra; I also love The Little Drummer Boy by Pentatonix

2. Favorite holiday guilty pleasure food - homemade sugar cookies with icing

3. Favorite holiday tradition - watching Christmas Vacation

4. Favorite holiday book - The Tale of Three Trees and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

5. Favorite act of kindness - getting an angel from the Salvation Army Christmas tree; I did this years ago and remember getting so excited about choosing things to buy for my angel. Why haven't I done it since then? I want to do it this year.

6. Favorite holiday memory - getting my Barbie dream house when I was 6 years old. My parents had just gotten divorced, and my dad came over to be with me Christmas morning. I'm grateful that my parents put me first.

7. Favorite holiday Christmas gift - my Cabbage Patch Kid

8. Favorite holiday craft - I love to make holiday bags with my students. I would give each student a paper bag, scissors, glue, and construction paper, and they would have to decorate their bags without using crayons. It was always so fun to see the different ways they would decorate their bags.

9. Favorite holiday movie - Christmas Vacation! I also love White Christmas

10. Favorite place to shop for holiday gifts - Target...of course every time I shop there I find things for me!

11. What I want Santa to bring me - a man! LOL - I would really love a new stainless steel sink and new flap stovetop for my kitchen

12. Favorite product - My favorite product from my store that I used every single day (and in every subject) is Critical Thinking Stems. I would tell my class to "say something", and they would immediately turn to their partner and share what they were thinking. It worked in whole class, small groups, at their desks, on the reading area, etc. It worked in every situation. They loved being able to share their thoughts too.

Now it's your turn! Link up below.

Real Live Elf

The holidays are coming soon, and the children are getting restless. We come up with ideas and strategies and fun things to keep the kiddos engaged and excited for school.

This principal goes the extra mile.

Really goes the extra mile.

Five for Friday!

Hi there. My name is Angela, and I'm the chick behind Southern Fried Teachin'. Nice to see you again! Haha! Yeah, I know I've been out of the loop lately. I have some big news to below to find out what it is!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for her weekly linky party. It's been a while, and I miss it. With no further ado, here we go!

A friend shared this on Facebook, and wow, did it speak to me. Like it was screaming at me. I've been going through some stuff lately like I'm sure many of you have been as well. I hope it can speak to some of you as well.

OK. Guilty pleasure time. I love this show. I don't know why. Oh wait...yes, I do. I know why. I'm single and have been waiting a looooooooong time to meet my man, and I'm constantly asking God where is he. I bet these people have the done the same thing....although NONE of them have waited near as long as I have. Anybody else watch this show?

I just love it. I still love watching the couples from the first season, and the couples from the second season were just one big disaster. But such good guilty pleasure reality TV.

I wonder what kind of man the experts would set me up with.

My little Lizzie. Isn't she the cutest thing? She loves being in small, confined spaces, so I made her a little dog bed out of a basket that I had. She loves it. Seriously loves it. She curls right up in the blankets and goes to sleep.

I want to find an old drawer to make a dog bed. I have seen some adorable ones on Pinterest.

OK. Big news time.

I have been having headaches every day. Not exaggerating.

Every. Single. Day.

Some headaches are worse than others.

Some headaches turn into migraines. Migraines are the absolute worst.

So I found a craniofacial pain dentist specializing in TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder), which is what I have.

My car accident 3 1/2 years ago aggravated it and made it worse. Here is a picture of my little car.

I got a severe concussion from it, and unfortunately you just don't know all the ramifications from it until often years later. I hadn't realized that my headaches had gotten bad after my accident until a friend mentioned it.

So this dentist is amazing. I am taking an anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxer at night, special cream on my jaw, and I'm wearing a mouth splint 24/7 except during eating.

Yeah, it looks like a retainer, but it's much thicker. It's supposed to help me realign my bite and jaw, which got out of whack from the accident.

I had such a horrific migraine the other day that I had to get two shots in my jaw. Sounds fun, right?

The biggest news....

Drum roll please.....

I have officially moved!

Here is a picture of my kitchen getting painted. It was a bright yellow before.

I LOVE my new house. I love my new neighborhood. I love my new area. I am absolutely positive that I made the right decision. I knew I would regret it if I didn't move.

So what's been going on with you?
